We
recently ran Training Sessions in December 2009/ January
2010 on how to utilise the Engage website and its
functions, the sessions were attended by individuals
who work for or with Community and Voluntary groups in
Glasgow
.
It
was extremely successful and helped those who attended
to understand and use the Engage website better.
Those who attended found it a useful and accessible tool
and will use it in the future.
For
the Training Session we created a manual that has simple
tasks to be completed - it essentially allows you to
understand the different fields of information that is
gathered on Engage and how to search more specifically
for different types of organisations to certain
specifications.
Engage
Glasgow
has released its first Annual Report. The report
highlights the uses of theEngage
database in its first 18 months of existence, and
provides a summary of some of the key characteristics of
the community and voluntary sector in
Glasgow
, as highlighted through Engage.
Listing
over 1600 organisations, with and without paid staff, it
is clear from the report that the sheer scope of the
dataset makes Engage a powerful tool:
·It
helps to promote community engagement by providing a
very efficient means for community planning partners,
and community and voluntary organisations themselves, to
find out about and get in touch with relevant
organisations in
Glasgow
.
·It
provides a profile of the voluntary and community sector
in
Glasgow
giving details, for example, on activities, target
groups, volunteers and financial details.
Nearly 300 registered users are currently benefiting
from the information they can extract from Engage.
Engage will continue to grow and develop as new records
are added, providing an evermore comprehensive directory
of the organisations so important to our communities.
We
are currently working with Faith Organisations to
explore ways of developing Engage to include a
comprehensive listing Faith or Belief-based
Organisations across the city.
We
would welcome the opportunity to work with partners from
all of the Glasgow’s Faith and Belief Communities to
explore developing the resource to provide a
comprehensive picture of the valuable work that Faith
and Belief-based Organisations undertake across the
city. For further information please contact
